RE: [Electric Boats] display at helm

Good question.  It’s not wireless.  The SW was written to work with Palm3 OS on earlier Palm Pilots---i.e. about 10yr old technology now.

The Palms typically came with a semi-vertical docking station with serial cable that plugged into a PC to sync up with databases and transfer programs, etc.  So in this case, you’d plug the docking station into a PC, run the Palm Sync SW, put the Palm on the docking station and load the EVdash SW onto the Palm.  Then you’d remove the Palm and the docking station, take it to your boat, plug the serial cable into the back of a Link10, then run the EVdash program on the Palm…or that’s how it’s supposed to work…as I say, the data coming from my Link10 wasn’t what the EVdash expected...I do need to get back to this Code Warrior project—will let folks know what happens.  Used Palm pilots and docking stations are dirt cheap these days.  Best to get one that has rechargeable batteries—my old M105 didn’t…but the M125 and later ones do.

Hey Myles,

Do you run a cable to the Palm Pilot or is it somehow wireless? The current readings are really what I want at the helm. If you get back to that project please keep us updated.

Thanks, Mark
