Re: [Electric Boats] Outboard conversion

That's how I've seen it done.

Hi all, new to the group, I have a Honda 7.5 horse long leg outboard that I would like to convert. I have a Mars brushless eteck type motor that looks like it will fit. My question is regarding the prop. the space below the cavitation plate will only accommodate an 8 1/2 inch prop, and I get the impression that a much larger prop would be more efficient on a light, easy to propel cat. I was thinking I could cut out the plate, and some of the upper leg to get clearance, then reshape the leg, maybe with epoxy, to fair the cut away part. I could replace the plate with an aftermarket one higher up. I would lose one of the attaching bolts that holds the lower section on though. Also I am not sure if the mid leg is sealed, or dose water sit in there when it is operating. Any thoughts?

Thanks,

David
