[Electric Boats] Re:Battery Life and Types

David,

Interesting information, but I don't know of many people beyond the speed record contenders that are using Lithium Ion batteries in a boat. Most of the e-boats are using Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4)batteries that act differently from Li-Ion cells. Kind of like the differences between flooded and AGM batteries, they're both lead acid, but they have distictly different charging and discharging profiles.

I know that it is easy to get the various Lithium battery types confused and many people aren't aware that there are siginificant differences.

That said, every battery type that I know of (lead, nickel, lithium, etc.) will benefit from moderate charge and discharge rates and shallower cycles whenever possible.
