This is the inaugural Southern California Boat Show. In the past there was a large boat show at the LA Convention Center with many large boats on display. That show has become much smaller and with a somewhat smaller in the water display 15 miles away. This is a new venue with a large capacity to have well over 200 boats in the water and more in the future.
I reached out to a number of electric marina propulsion manufacturers and did not get much support. The much larger and more important US Sailing Show in Annapolis is just two weeks later and expect to see more there including battery manufacturers.
If you have the latest Sail magazine you will find an article by Nigel Calder on hybrid propulsion. This is a "new boat magazine" and the article focused on electric propulsion for new boats. Propulsion vendors mentioned: Greenline (boat builder), Fisher Panda, Hybrid-Marine Ltd, OceanVolt, and Torqeedo. Missing were Elco, Electric Yachts, Thoosa, Bellmarine (what used to be MasterVolt propulsion systems) plus others.
What I also found interesting mentioned in the article is the "hour of power" for superyachts in which the superyacht would have one hour of power for up to 10kts. This market has money and incentives to do this. Electric Yacht has been installed in two 150ft superyachts "Galaxy" in which these futuristic superyachts have two pairs of QuietTorque 40.0 systems (16kW of electric power or about 215hp) that are used in harbor as they take their 2 2600hp diesel motors off line.
