Talk about perfect timing. I was going to PM King of N.O. & ask him about noise from his gear box.
My understanding is the Electroprop also uses a gear box. Electric Yachts, Thunderstruck & Thoosa use a belt driven gear reduction.
One complaint I see frequently is the hum/noise a belt driven unit makes when sailing & the prop is free wheeling in "regen" mode The noise in question, is it the belt reduction gear box or is it the motor? On a gear box driven unit the question again is, it the motor or the gear box?
Seems like most of the boats with a short water line do not see a huge benefit from regen. If that is correct wouldn't a folding prop stop the nuisance noise of a free wheeling prop when sailing?
