I am an electrical engineer that mostly just lurks here trying to figure out how to convert my boat. AFAIK most modern (switching) power supplies are able to convert from a relatively wide range of input voltages, to provide a constant output voltage at good efficiency. Usually, the efficiency starts to fall off at some point if you push it (96V?!). Also, there _WILL BE_ some maximum voltage. Don't exceed that.
