[Electric Boats] Re: 35' cabin cruiser conversion

 

Eric is right, those are the biggest questions when using electric.

The main point is while you can re-power a planing boat with electric the about of batteries/ generator you would need to go "fast" increase the cost tremendously. I think what Eric is asking what speeds and range are you likely/ comfortable to use the boat? 5-7 knots is fairly easy, higher speeds, exponentially larger motors, systems, and cost.

What are your motivation/ goal for using electric? Is it quiet operation? more reliability? less maintenance? Being more eco-friendly?
