Eric, those hydro generators that we discussed a couple of months ago are expensive as you said, but the idea is a good one.   The same unit (close anyway) is used on several peddle powered water bikes and are quite efficient for propulsion. With some modifications the unit could be modified for a retractable hydro generator...  worth some thought, better than $7/10 grand.   The cost on the assembly is around $7/800 dollars...  it's worth a look if someone wants to keep the generator portion out of the water...

Hi Richard,

We discussed those hydro generators a couple of months ago in this Yahoo group.  I agree that they seem pretty cool.  The two price references that came out of that conversation were either $7,200 or $10,000 per generating unit.  At that price, they seem to be out of the reach of most of the people here.
