Re: [Electric Boats] Hunter 30 Power Plant

Martin,

Great to hear that you are considering an electric re-power.

We offer a solution that is based on a gear driven double stator motor with display that monitors all the vital functions of the drive unit.

The drive unit is compact, maintenance free and powerful with outputs of 5.5KW at 120 degrees C winding temperature in 70 degree ambient temperatures.

The Clearview Display offers all pertinent operating information including battery voltage, current, motor voltage and current, motor temperature, controller temperature, and motor torque.   The display also offers a complete fault management section to quickly identify any fault that arises  ie: missing contactor connection, or low battery.   The display gives you the ability to program many features of the drive including forward and reverse speeds and set up of the throttle.

The drive comes complete with temperature activated fans, one to intake and one to exhaust air from the engine compartment.

The drive includes a flange gearbox coupling with a flexible coupling insert which makes alignment very easy, and compensates for any small amount of left over misalignment.

We custom build the drop pan mount to your specifications and custom build the wiring harness for your boat.

We can have a complete unit shipped to you within 2 weeks if necessary.

We recommend a high pitch propeller and can help choose the appropriate gear ratio - a very important part of building an efficient electric drive.

We can provide a good price on batteries, battery chargers, inverters and any other options drop shipped directly to you as part of a package deal.

Whatever Propulsion Package you choose, I hope it is electric.

My aging Hunter 30's YSB12 has gotten to the point where its rebuild or replace.

Going electric appeals to me but wonder if anyone has any experience with a 1977 Hunter 30, Cherabinni designed boat. She is a great sailor but she was always underpowered.

Cost is a factor and time is an issue, don't want to lose the whole summer at this point.
