I have to agree with a few others here and caution anyone who is enticed by "deals" on eBay. As a DIY installer it's always exciting to find a good price, but remember that the re-power you are doing on your boat goes beyond the immediate "deal" and is something you will rely upon to run reliably in your boat.  Having a warranty and the peace of mind that you have a good product from a reliable company that will support that product is worth some added expense!  

Continue to look at options and don't rule out the companies that offer the drop in systems which will save you time and some grief down the road.  ASMO Marine, Electric Yacht, Elco, AMeP, and others are all worth looking at and considering. Make a list of the pros and cons for each system, including the SolidNav and what it would entail for you to make that work, and then decide. And, keep asking questions.  There are many on this list who are very knowledgeable and willing to share what they have learned.

Please consider "Electric Yacht" for a better deal on electric propulsion equipment and full 2 year warranty.  Price sometimes will include installation with some of their dealers including myself if you are not to far away.  Can't beat that.

A $4000 purchase (list price on the SolidNav website) is not feasible at the moment, however at $3000, it just might be in the cards.

That said, I wanted to get SolidNav's opinion of this deal, as well as inquire about the possibility of obtaining/purchasing warranty coverage of it, etc. I called their toll-free number on their website and a message stated that it was temporarily disabled. Anyone know what is up with that?

Has anyone had any dealings with the eBay seller, transpacificdistributors?
