RE: [Electric Boats] display at helm

Well here’s a kind of whacky idea if the PakTrakr has a serial port output with current/voltage data packets being sent.

You could then get an old, cheap, used Palm Pilot and load something like the EVdash software (modified for your serial comm. Data) to monitor, display and even log the data from your trip.  The EVdash SW was written quite a long time ago now and hasn’t been updated (still at v1.01).  It was written exclusively for use with Xantrex Link-10 or Emeter.  I’ve run this on a Palm105 on my boat, but found that the data wasn’t lining up right coming out the serial port.  I suspect that the data packets changed at some point and since the EVdash SW didn’t get updated, I think it was the current display didn’t show anything meaningful.  I haven’t gotten back to that project yet…

Subject: [Electric Boats] display at helm

So for Christmas I would like a current and voltage display at the helm. I've got a PakTrakr but it lives down below out of the elements. Other than a full on additional weatherized battery monitor, any thoughts?
