Re: [Electric Boats] Re: Electric Ericson 27 Long Beach California

Scott:

You might want to take a look at the chronicle on my electric conversion.
I also have a link in the first post what what I went through in removing the diesel engine. Which was the hard part. :)

Hi Johnathan,

I am in the planning stages of converting an Ericson 27 to electric, if you have any lessons learned with your conversion I would love to hear them.  I have been emailing a few different vendors to get some estimates (Electric Yacht, OceanVolt, Thoosa), I am not sure if there are others that I should consider?

My mechanic says that I need to pull the Perkins M20 diesel out for repair by a specialist.  If/when I pull the motor out, I just can't see putting it back in.  I know that an electric conversion isn't cheap, but neither is the estimated repair work on the diesel.  So sometimes you just have to make the leap, and it looks like it is time.

Anyway, I have been browsing the site and picking up great information, but if you or any other member have additional advice/suggestions as I travel this path it would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
-Scott
