[Electric Boats] Re: Fugu electric conversion performance

 

Thanks Jason for your comments, observations and particularly your measurements/data.

Do you think that the operating currents would scale down somewhat for a smaller boat?

My boat is a 20 ft 2000# fin keel sailboat so I want to keep the battery bank on the small side for both weight and physical size.  I am doing an outboard conversion with a 5kW water cooled pmac motor.  Early on I did the spreadsheet modeling and from your data as well as others, it does appear that modeling is a bit inaccurate (which you commented on in and earlier post). 

I would be very happy if I could get 3 kt for an 18 ft waterline with 20A or less.
