Dear Sirs,
I have a 30ft sailboat, Albin Ballad, with 3,300Kg. The engine is a very old Volvo Penta MD6A with 10hp and a 14x10 prop with 2 blades. I'm studing the possibility to repower with electric motor.
There are so many kits from so many brands and prices...
What kind of motor should I use? AC, Trifasic, DC, Brushless, Brushed, 24v, 36, 48v, 72, etc?
I'm a daysailer and ocasionly weekender. The worse conditions I have is motoring against the tide for about 10miles to arrive into my marina.
Are the calculations right in the sites about my range and speed or is just publiciti?
I'm thinking about agm batteries for the relation price and available amps. I'm I right? How many amps should I have in my bank of batteries?
Is the regenaration real or is minimal?
I have 220v in the marina to recharge the batteries.
In the sites they give me the speed and range with no wind and calm sea. But, if I have bad weather in my bow? With wind and waves against is it going to be safe to have an electric motor?
Sorry for so many questions but I'm still very skeptic about it.
