Don't forget your bilge pumps! There are DC/DC converters that will supply 12vdc from your 48v bank. You can also get one at 13.8v or thereabouts, for charging a 12v batt from the 48v bank. Better for the 12v battery maybe is to charge it with a dedicated smart charger. You could also charge it with a solar panel, for complete isolation and redundancy. There are lots of options. About the 5kw kit... If it is from Kelly, it does not include the motor, so figure another $400 if you use the 0907 motor or the new 0201014201 motor. Still looks like a good purchase. You can change the ratio on the reduction gear as needed. McMaster-Carr and other vendors have different size pulleys, so you are not stuck with 2 to 1 if you want to experiment and tweak the system.
