Thanks for the feedback. It's a 1 way trip up the river and then through the locks. After that I've got about 3 miles back the way I came of a sail before getting into the slip. If jason's estimate is right then I should be able to about 60mi at 2.5mi/hr... that sounds like quite a bit! Once nice thing about sailing in chicago is that you only need to go up the river twice a year; spring and fall. Opening all of the bridges (18 on my trip) is quite expensive and really screws up traffic so the city keeps it to a minimum.
