Welcome Rob and Deb:
I hope you find that going to electric propulsion makes the sailing experience so much better as I have found. It is also somewhat boring as far as maintenance is concerned. Lot's of information here and experienced people to answer your questions. I've chronicled the conversion I went through on my 30 foot sailboat six years ago here:

It will give you an idea of whats involved.

To All,
We wanted too take a moment and introduce ourselves to the group since we are new members. We are experienced sailors and have recently purchased a Pearson Vanguard sailboat and have decided on electric propulsion. Our other boats have all been diesel and we are looking forward to getting rid of everything associated with the combustion engine.
Since we are electric boat novice we hope to use this forum as a sounding board for ideas, suggestions, assistance and advice from those that have all ready traveled down this road.
We keep our boats in Kemah or Galveston, Texas when we are not out on the water.
Regards,
Robert and Deborah
