Re: [Electric Boats] Three solar electric boats

Hello Tom,  thanks for the kind words.

I do in fact have a boat under construction but not on suitable for discussion here.  It's a 22' runabout to be powered with a 60 hp Evinrude OB.  Details are on the Woodenboat forum under "22' runabout abuildin".  The strong river current where I live makes the electric boat range less than we want.

I enjoyed the Harmony project immensely and helping David get his beamier project going.  The second Harmony with the EPIC electric drive is still sitting in my shop and I sure wish it was gone ( not to mention how much my wife wishes it was gone!)

Merry Christmas to all.

I have long lusted after Denny Wolfe's Harmony 25 electric launch. A beautiful boat in wood, with electric power that can really push it around.

The boat, Sol, however does not seem to be listed on Mr. Wolfe's website. There is a nice write up on sol and the previous boats here

One interesting thing is that Mr. Wolfe's boat harmony, while nominally for sale the whole time, is now listed as "make me an offer, this has to go"

So, he must have boat fever, or a great new design, both of boat and of power configuration. I would suspect that he indeed is making the new boat, which has lead to a cascade of design ideas, leading him to actually consider selling his "baby"

Mr. Wolfe, could you clue us in as to what ideas you are considering, both in hull shape, and the power plant? Will you exceed 1500 watts? Will you be using LIPO4 batteries?

Thank you.

Tom
