We're building a third solar electric boat, Sol. The first, Teal, is more of a toy; the second, Sirius Sun, is an experiment; Sol is a 25 foot wooden strip built boat with an 80 inch beam, covered inside and out with fiberglass. Sol was lofted by Wolfe Boats with a wide beam to stabilize high weight of the PV, photovoltaic, solar panels that make up the roof. Pictures of the boats are on the web site.
The earlier successes lead to making Sol as a work-boat where there is no electricity to charge batteries, except for solar electric power. Sol can load a stack of 4 x 8 foot sheets of building materials and sever thousands of pounds of load. The chart below gives the specs of each version as built.
Specification Teal Sirius Sun Sol

Besides finishing the decks, sheer, bilge, etc. of Sol, We plan to make Speed versus Power curves for each hull. These boats are all quiet and independent of both the grid and fuel pumps.
