With lead acid batteries they last much longer if they are shallowly discharged and then recharged, than being deeply discharged and then recharged.  It comes back to the fuel tank idea of it getting smaller every time it's deeply discarged.

Very interesting. It turns out I operate the same way with my electric propulsion system. My  generator comes on when the battery bank has dropped to 80%. Of course unlike the Lagoon
setup I've got to manually start it and stop it. But, I'm glad to know that I may have stumbled upon a good operating proceedure on my own. Thanks for posting it.

Just ran across this at the Lagoon Owners site, The "Manual" for the 420 Electric that didn't go well for the owners. There might be some info in here someone could use. Note it was put together in 04.
