Eric , what James says makes perfect sense to me.
But because of my circumstances , I'll go for a hybrid.
That will enable me to recharge batteries efficiently with cruising revs on the diesel, and then settle down to electric motor sailing .
Sounds perfect !.

The problem in trying to quantify motorsailing results is that your results will vary, even from day to day. And trying to compare your boat to my boat, who knows how they relate....
