Re: [Electric Boats] Re: Insurance and portable generators....

Thats my point Matthew , when you make a claim , the insurance company has the perfect "out".
I've had a bit to do with Insurance companies , firstly , as an employee , seeing the tactics used to avoid payment , and as a claimer , after the Ash Wednesday fires , and from a storm damage , more recently.
My attitude now is to be completely honest , and let them know in writing , what the situation is , whether it be modifications to my camper , or my boat .
And the response is in writing.
Thats no guarantee , but I'd like to think it goes a long way.
I think I'm going to bail out of this conversation , it seems to have hit a nerve.

My marine insurance DOES know my boat is electric - as part of the
'disclosure' was the engine it had. This did cause them some minor
issues - but not because it was electric as such, but because it was
'custom built' so they couldn't look up their normal valuation tables.....

So my insurance documents show the hull type and model and 'custom' as
the engine.

They don't know I carry a Honda generator when I'm out. The Honda is
covered by my house hold insurance - although I suspect if it got it
swamped and damaged, neither insurer would cover it.
