Maybe we can set up a group software share system...download the DVDs into our laptops or something to save a little $$$. How much does the controller software typically cost, anyway??

If near zero maintenance is a goal, brushed motors will need replacement brushes once in a while.
As for controllers ..... if you're the type to tweak the controller params, note some controllers need an additional programing controller and some connect directly via serial port. Not a big deal but it can add to the costs.
