It's been a decade (or two!) since I searched for these. Hopefully they are still out there. Back then there were quite a few small diesel generators available - all that I found seemed to be aimed at third world folk where diesel generators are popular for other than safety reasons. I didn't find anything sold by the larger companies in the US. The ones I found on the international market - and there were many - tended to be simple, single cylinder, air-cooled, poorly shrouded, loud, and hand-cranked. Hopefully quite dependable and economical as well. IMHO, I'd go with Yanmar's products. It's a brand known for quality diesels.
I like my comforts more civilized these days, so I ended up buying a 1 Kw Honda….. Love it. But then I don't have a problem with propane either. I take somewhat more than normal precautions with any fuel and then simply get on with it.

Along the same line.....is there a very small, 1kw-2kw, diesel generator available? I would love to have a relatively safe fuel for generation. I've searched without success. Is there a reason? thanks, JohnOn Fri, Apr 4, 2014 at 6:26 PM, <bjamessr1@comcast.net> wrote:I doubt you would be unaware of gasoline sloshing anywhere since the fumes are litter than air and would rise, where as LPG is heavier than air and find the lowest cubby hole to accumulate.
