[Electric Boats] Re: Propane generators

Hello to the Group,

As Eric and Per have explained, propane has advantages, and I have greater trust in it over gasoline.  As a fan of electric boating, I am generally opposed to using any fuels on board when it can be avoided.  However, we do plan to use it for cooking, probably hot water, and possibly refrigeration, so it will be aboard in one if not two spots on the stern in 30 pound tanks.

Until this past week, while doing some looking around for a new backup generator for our home (a 36 foot RV), I have not considered having a generator on board at all.  However, one like that shown here:

is not only affordable at $250, it is small, lightweight, and quiet at 65 db.  Placed in a good spot during refurbishment it seems to be a good compliment to electric boating.

However, I would like to hear from anyone in the group who has experience with propane generators.

Thank you,

Brad Bates,
Play Mate
