[Electric Boats] DC Motor controllers

 

Hi all,

I am converting a Privateer 26 sailboat from a Volvo MD1 diesel to electric. The boat is 6000lbs. I only need to get in and out of a marina on a midwest lake. At most, I might have to motor 2 or 3 miles if the wind dies. I already have a Mars ME-0709 motor,a NOCO Genius 48V onboard charger, and 4, 12V 80ah deep cycle batteries. I am looking at a Kelly controller, KDZ48200 controller with a KDZ/KDHA assembly with reversing contactor. Will a 200Amp controller be ok for my use? I will use a belt drive reduction to drive the prop shaft. I want the motor to run at 1800 RPM at full speed.
