Re: [Electric Boats] Lyman 13

Have at it.  I have put several of these electric trollers on the transom of johnboats etc.  Just don't expect more than about 4-5 mph.  And stay back from the full power.  You'll get 90% speed from a 60% power setting.  Also, the shaft length may put the tiller/controls rather high.  After you are confident that the motor is what you want, don't be reluctant to shorten the shaft, making operation more comfortable.  Be aware that this WILL void the warrenty.

Subject: [Electric Boats] Lyman 13

I just purchased a classic 1952 Lyman runabout in pretty good condition, with no motor. I intend to mount an electric motor on the transom; I'm considering the Minnkota Traxxis 55. The Lyman is wood, lapstrake construction, with mahogany plywood deck and lots of trim to varnish. I think the Traxxis 55 has 55 pounds of thrust and draws about 50 amps, max, at 12 VDC. Any suggestions?
