Hi James,

I agree with your analysis, but the boat that was being discussed is a small cabin cruiser power boat. This makes it more like a hybrid car, that will only operate for a few minutes under electric alone, then the engine will be running until the boat stops. So the engine duty cycle will be above 90%.

Like you said "diesels make for a better motor boat, and electrics, be it battery electric, solar electric or diesel electric, make for better sailboats".
