Hi John, A couple of months ago I installed a Mars electric motor and had the same concerns. I ended up using the existing motor mounts from my Volvo Penta motor and I am quite satisfied. I really do not believe you will need any rubber to absorb vibrations, although my old motor mounts do have a rubber pad. If I were you I would install it without, and if you do find any disturbing vibrations, it is easy enough to slip a 1/4 inch rubber pad under the mounting bracket.

Hello all,
I am installing an E-drive into a 1932 Herreshoff 34' sloop with a displacement of 5500#. I am curious if rubber isolation mounts are necessary to prevent noise and vibration...or can the motor be mounted to a plate attached directly to the heavy oak floors of the boat? With a very solid mount, won't the mass of the boat dampen any vibration? I'm using Thunderstruck' s kit with a 2:1 cog belt reduction.
Any comments or experiences would be appreciated.
Thank you,
John
