Re: [Electric Boats] 33 foot solar electric hybrid.

It's a nice looking boat for power boat except for the diesel and LCD TV. <g>  Don't know why they went with a separate diesel engine to drive the generator that then powers the motor. Instead of just a diesel generator. Seems the to violate the KISS system: Keep It Simple Sailor!  That clutch plate mating with the engine IMO makes it way too complicated for an electric boat. Still  I could see this boat functioning quite well in my local waters for those who like power boats. Harbor speed is no wake or around 5 knots. Most power boats head out of the harbor and go fishing within a five mile range. Spend several hours at anchor and then head back in. That could all be done under electric power with this boat. I don't know if it's a game changer but, IMO it's a large step in the right direction.

P.S. I hope Santa brings some of you a nice electric propulsion system for Christmas. They are much lighter and easier to get down the chimney than diesels!  But, don't expect him to bring the batteries!

No offense but 20 miles at 6 K under electric.

700 at 10K under diesel.

Dump the solar and electric generator and use the VW diesel period.
Maybe solar to top house batteries but really it is a diesel low power
displacement hull with a token solar to qualify as green

Seat belt on,
