[Electric Boats] Re: Planning Cal 2-27 conversion, advice needed

Yeah, price may have come up a bit. But I also took advantage of the discounts they offered during the boat shows. That would be my first suggestion for whatever motor you go with. At least in Annapolis and Miami, the companies offer some sweet deals. I also did all the work myself, so the only installation cost was my labor, and the labor of friends I could rope in.

Most of my sailing is done on the York River, just off the Chesapeake Bay. I mostly want an engine to get me in and out of the channel to my slip, so the batteries have been sufficient for that. The only real time I wish I had larger batteries, or a recharger to which I could connect a generator while running the motor has been when going on longer excursions on days with no wind.

Anne, that's a nice blog you have. Lot's of details. I'm not sure how you got the entire system installed for $5K, I guess prices must've been different two years ago. 180ibl is listed at $5.5K on the web site now... Do you find 100Ah bank sufficient, especially at higher power?
