[Electric Boats] Re: Planning Cal 2-27 conversion, advice needed

I have a Cal2-29 and converted to an Electric Yacht 180ibl (bigger than needed, really) two years ago. I have 4 100Ah AGMs and a rebuilt charger. Entire cost was right around $5K. Had to buy a bunch of new wiring that added a few hundred more.

I was in the same spot you were. But I figured, if the cost was about the same as the diesel, it would've worth it.

Boat doesn't smell of diesel any more. I don't have to 'winterize'. We  can hear each other, and the music, with the engine running. It's great!

You can read about the conversion here:

Search on 'electric engine' on the site for some of the ups and downs, which have mostly ended up being my own learning curve.
