I have a Cal2-29 and converted to an Electric Yacht 180ibl (bigger than needed, really) two years ago. I have 4 100Ah AGMs and a rebuilt charger. Entire cost was right around $5K. Had to buy a bunch of new wiring that added a few hundred more.
I was in the same spot you were. But I figured, if the cost was about the same as the diesel, it would've worth it.
Boat doesn't smell of diesel any more. I don't have to 'winterize'. We can hear each other, and the music, with the engine running. It's great!
