The Alphagen DCX3000 maintains batteries below 52.5 volts and does so with up to 50+ amps available depending on the load you place on it.
I have two that sit in the cockpit if ever needed. I have tested with large house loads on the boat and they sense the battery load and compensate. I'm upwards of 80+amps at 48vdc with both of them supplying the current to operate extreme loads.
These make them suitable for range extenders for electric motors. They will generally add only around another 5 amps over and above the draw on the way back to 52.5 volts. That is being conservative to on the charge rate. At idle with no loads you may see 8 amps on the way back to 52.5v.
My batteries work great with them and I let the solar finish off charging above the 52.5 mark. When off the dock I intend to use them when on extended trips when the bank goes below 52.5 volts.
They can easily handle the supper cooking and water heating chores for an hour of run time. These are better than wind generators in my opinion.
