Re: [Electric Boats] Primitive Makeshift Solar Electric Technology

I have had the rebar discussion with him and it is an educated choice.  He sees concrete structures all around him crumbling and or spalling because of the corrosive salt air getting to the rebar and popping things. So he plans for no rebar.

To say he doesn't do detailed engineering analysis is fair but I'd give Jamie credit for doing his engineering. He does have a technical degree of some sort and I've seen him do some pretty detailed geometric calculations on a few of his projects.  I would criticize his materials applications some times though. Not too sure about his PVC anchor filled with concrete and the guy doesn't seem to know what rebar is for.

But other than that I'd give him straight As for his engineering intuition. He's done a lot of stuff I NEVER would have tried that turned out pretty good. I especially like the way he plugs his AC and DC power tools directly into his solar panels  and runs the crap out of them. I'm looking forward to trying that one with an old sawsall I have.

I guess when you're living on a remote island you make due with what you have. Kinda like being unemployed and cruising around on a solar powered concrete boat. lol  I guess that's why I enjoy watching the guy so much.

Sorry I couldn't come up with a snappy acronym this lovely Mardi Gras morning. Anyway I have been following this guy's projects and progress off and on for a while now, and maybe some of you already do, too, but maybe some of you will find this entertaining.
