I HAVE USED A COMMON TOOTHED BELT FOR FINAL DRIVE ON MY BOAT, 15 TEETH TO 60 TEETH ON THE PROP SHAFT, DRIVING A 14 X 17 PROP, 3 BLADE. NOISE IS CERTIANLY NO ISSUE.
THE GOODYEAR BELTS ARE ADVANCED, AND PROBABLY BETTER, BUT ALSO PROBABLY COST IS HIGH. STANDARD TOOTHED BELTS, THE SAME AS AUTOMOTIVE CAMESHAFT DRIVES ON 4 CYLINDER CARS IS THE WAY TO GO. EASY TO GET REPLACEMENTS, VERY INEXPENSIVE, ESPECIALLY AT 2:1 RATIO, YOU CAN ROB THIS DRIVE FROM A JUNKED CAR, OR BUY ANY RATIO YOU LIKE FROM OEM.
