If I recall correctly, there was some "wiggle room" to steer with the outboard in the C-27 motor well, but for a normal sized 10hp outboard, you didn't have room to go all the way around.
A Torqeedo is a lot smaller, so you might have a better chance of getting it to rotate completely. But even if you could, it would be rather awkward to do. Since the C-27 uses a "motor well", instead of an outboard bracket, it's a pain to try to do any steering with the motor.

The is certainly a big plus.
As for switching from inboard to an outboard drive, having owned sailboats with both, I would only consider such if I were never going to be powering in any kind of a sea. If one has ever tried such, he/she knows what I mean as it is pretty much impossible to keep the prop in the water.
