Re: [Electric Boats] RE: catalina 27 conversion to inboard drive

My impression of outboards are that they are all inadequate in reverse.  Not a power thing but a nature of the propeller and the position of the propeller and the angle of the propeller.  We sell two makes, the Parsun and Torqueedo.  The Torqueedo is better but neither works well off the back of a sailboat as compared to the prop positioned low under the hull.
Many boats designed for close to shore sailing also have issues with placement of the propeller especially if they are based on the Atomic 4 higher rpm and 12inch shallow pitch props.  When we do ocean cruisers are are normally surprised by the greater results and I believe it is the result of working with a better designed boat and proper props.
To restate Electric Yachts perspective of how to improve an electric sail boats performance:
first,better sails;
second, better prop;
third, better motor;
and finally better batteries.
