[Electric Boats] Re: Socialpath complete electrical system

Thank you for the links James. I like the Quattro and DC Genset diagram.

What is the green "junction" box in the diagram? Is this a charge controller? Would it be able to handle the amp draw needed to run the electric drives?

For the solar panel charge controller. Where does this connect into the system?

I looked at the Quattro line from Victron. As you mentioned, it has a voltage input range of 187-265 VAC. It doesn't accept the 115/120V. Price is $2,568. plus isolation transformer.

Victron doesn't have a Phoenix charger in 48V. The Victron Phoenix line does have 24V chargers that accept all shore power voltages and frequencies. It also accepts DC up to 400V. Cost is about $750 per charger. One charger in each hull would shorten the cable between the battery and charger. It could be used to control the DC generator output also.

Is it possible to split a 48V bank to charge it? And be able to run the 48V electric drives at the same time? Or charge each 12V battery individually in the bank?

Regards.
