Re: [Electric Boats] removing old engine

I'm not exactly sure what you're asking, but here are a few thoughts. If its running and you're not in a hurry, sell it while its still in the boat, that way a buyer can see it running and will probably help you remove it. At least take a video to show people if you're going to pull it.

The best removal method depends on what you have available. I've used the boom and mainsheet a couple of times. If the rig is down you can built a gantry out of some 4x4s to pull the engine or see if the yard can help out with a fork lift.

Definitely try selling the engine, they're worth a bit even non-running. eBay is a good place to sell one.

What boat and how big of an engine are we talking about?

Anyone have suggestions on removing (and maybe selling??) an old diesel engine before replacing with an electric?
Thanks,
