Has anyone considered what the rules would be for an electric sailboat race.
1. We could have a class that allowed electric motor sailing using energy generated while sailing.
We could accomplish this by having an amp hour counter on everyone's battery bank.
2. We could have a class that allowed use of the vessels battery energy and time wins the race.
3. We could have a class that used the least amount of energy and even stored energy from alternative sources. In this class, efficiency wins the race.
The idea behind the solar sailboat race is to drive the technology.
I am proposing to sponsor a solar sailboat race in Santa Barbara, leaving Santa Barbara, around Santa Cruz Island and back to Santa Barbara. Racers can go either way around the island.
