A valid point.  I suspect you'll be about 20 pounds heavier going with the SAB cells versus something more energy dense.  Worst case, 60 pounds versus 40 pounds (a suitable case is probably around five pounds).

But it's a decent improvement either way:  3x versus 4.5x battery weight reduction.

So at 55ah, the SAB cells in a 12s1p 36-volt configuration would be about 48 pounds + bus bars, bms, and a case. Let's call it 50 pounds. The Optima group 31 batteries are 60 pounds each and I am dragging 3 of them around. 

The simplicity of the build, ease of cell replacement, apparent strength, and being 2 hours from Battery Hookup (I could save on shipping) seems like an attractive option.
