I know the guy who built Sparky (the cat with center console in the video). His name is Dave Elderton. He lives on Saltspring Island and deals with E-bikes and solar.
Some info he sent me about the boat:
The Hobie cat we call Sparky is running well, I gave it to my sister, who lives up by the power house on Indian Arm. It has saved her tons on gas. She mainly uses it in the spring summer and fall. It does the round trip to the cove [Deep Cove] at about 7 knots, using just over half the battery capacity of 5 KW/h. I found a better set of hulls, 18 ft instead of 16, and a more efficient shape, maybe next year we will swap them out.
He used lithium batteries, because the required lead-acid batteries were too heavy for the hulls to support.
