[Electric Boats] Re: conversion performance

The header on the 4-Blade graph should read 13 X 15.5.
Sorry for the confusion and will try to correct shortly.

Finally got prop swapped on Saturday. Went from original 16 X 10 fixed 2-blade to a 13 X 15.5 fixed 4-blade with a .090 cup.
Did a run with the old prop early in the morning with little wind and a slack tide.
The bottom was slightly scummy and was cleaned during the prop swap.

The first run with the new prop was made into an ~8 knot headwind with an estimated 0.2 knot current assist..
The return, reciprocal course had an ~8 knot tail wind and was into a ~0.3 knot current.

The out and back values are included in the graphs and the data for watts and RPM were averaged in cases where the velocities were identical.

On the return leg, with the new prop,  I definitely noticed the motor output decreasing at max throttle. The motor temp reached 140 F.

I can't explain the weird dip at the high end of the 2-blade data. Perhaps boater headspace.

Since posting my initial performance data and later talking to James Lambden at Electroprop, I've decided to try his 14" 4-bladed fixed prop. (He had recommended this very early in the conversion process but I wanted to see if my original prop was "good enough" - which it is (IMO), but a significant efficiency increase is now enticing.)  It will be very interesting to see the new prop's  effect on performance.  I'll take some additional measurements with the original prop before switching. Stay tuned...
