Re: [Electric Boats] Re: Conversion is underway!

Hello Christopher,

Cool! Tartan builds a good boat. I use the boat on Great South bay and Bellport bay primarily. I would like to try i on the ocean, I know i can handle it. I haven' had to check the range ye, but I conifident I can get abou 2 hours out of it, extrapolating what I have done. I plan on getting a generator for it one day, and a solar panel for the house battery. All to come!

Fred,
I have a Tartan 26 and I am leaning hard toward the same kit that you have installed.
Do you use your boat on the ocean? How many hours do you get with the batteries? Do you have a back up generatorOriginal Message:
Hi, I installed the 8.5kw kit in a Tartan 27, and it works fine. One mistake I made was not looking to see if the prop shaft is skewed or parallel to the centerline. I had to open up the holes in my powder-coated mounting pieces! Anyway, I used 8v flooded batteries to best approximate the weight distribuion of the old engine and full tank of fuel. If I had to do it again I would use sealed batteries.
