Re: [Electric Boats] Greetings! New conversion

You should look at the boat that Sailing Uma sails.  It's a Pearson 37 outfitted with 48v LiFePO4 batteries, a fork lift motor and 500 watts of solar panels.  They are using this system with great success to cross oceans.  They are on Youtube.

Hello all!

It's been tough finding people with experience in EP with boats. Following cruisers forum, they are cynical and rude.

We recently purchased a FP Orana 44' and I have been looking at converting to electric. The boat currently has Volvo Penta 40hp engines that are getting pretty tired.

I've spoken with a few plug and play operations but want to learn and know more about the systems from current owners. I would love to chat with a few people through here or even better over the phone if possible.

Our plans.....we are nurses and plan to board the boat full time in less than 2 years. She's in the Caribbean now. We started a non profit and will start doing disaster and medical relief in the Caribbean for a couple years before crossing to Vanuatu in the South Pacific.

We are looking at a system with Genset to get the range we want.
So many questions. Anyways would love to connect and learn from you guys doing this first hand.

Thanks
Steve
