[Electric Boats] Re: Newport Vessel trolling motors spec sheet

Thanks,

In the 'belief based world' we seem to be living in lately, data are a breath of fresh air.

Hello All:

I did the speed and battery tests on 3 different small boats with my Torqeedo 1003 and made a video of the testing process and results. It is on youtube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5O1o2ms5_24.

We achieved a top speed of 6.9 mph in a 16 ft canoe loaded with two men. Total weight in all three boats was 340 lbs. Torqeedo claims that the 1003 is the equivalent of a 3 horsepower gas outboard.

In all three boats, including a 10-ft catamaran, we did exceed hull speed. So it is possible to go beyond hull speed with the Torqeedo 1003. But, as everyone here understands, exceeding hull speed drains the battery in a very short amount of time.
