[Electric Boats] Glen L Mark Twain 36' pontoon electric motor advice.

Hello chaps, my name is Alex and am a waterman on the River Thames in London.

I am building a Mark Twain 36' pontoon boat designed by Glen L of Calfornia. A link to the specs follows. http://www.glen-l.com/designs/house/marktwain.html

I am relatively new to electric boating and am slowly picking up and gleaning information.

Please would anybody have any ideas what would be a good electric motor/propeller pitch and controller to use for propelling the pontoon.

I am using it in the backwaters of south asia where there is no tidal streams or currant but water Hyasenth weed is in abundance so was considering two electric/gasoline outboard conversions with a bathing platform so to get easy access to the props to free from weed and floatsom/jetsom rope.

I have heard that if ones electric props gets jammed with weed/rope it can burn out the motor so it might be best if the motors used a belt/cam drive so the belt can slip if the motor/prop jams.

Any advice would be welcome and if anybody would like to help this project then you would be welcome to join the project in South India.

It's like paradise out there.

Much appriciated and a big Hi from London Town.

Alex.
