In my case if a battery like that came into production then I could stop lugging a generator and the gas around..
I would get about 30 hours run time. With my old diesel I used to have enough fuel to run for 60 hours.
On out trip to the Azores and Canary Islands we did not use half the fuel we had and most of it was to charge the batteries. Same for the return trip..
If the batteries were run down then I could wait a while for them to charge with solar or go to a marina and charge there.. Since the house loads are no longer a problem with the solar even with the present batteries life aboard will be a big improvement with electric..

Subject: RE: [Electric Boats] Re: new lithium battery breakthrough?
Considering the fact that the Batteries are the weakest link to our systems I'm always interested in any progress made in this area. The fact is this was an improvement mentioned to the existing Lithium's makes it more probable rather than a totally new concept. (Still waiting for a boat size reactor). I have a lot to learn about Lithium batteries (probably my next set) and any input or knowledge about the technology is highly appreciated.
