Looking back at the original post, he did mention a 48v Ray Electric and so I’d guess that he also has a 48v/17a Lestronic. He can easily use a Honda EU2000i or EU3000i to drive that charger at full tilt. My EU2000i can drive my 36v/20a Lestronic, plus a home-configured Vicor power supply delivering another 20amps to the 36v battery bank. That’s about 1440watts delivered, with probably somewhat over the 1600watts rating for the genset being drawn by the 2 chargers. An EU3000i is rated for 2400watts continuous. I’d guess that into 48v, the genset can deliver enough power for as much as 45-amps continuous.
But back to the original question:
1) can i plug a Honda 3000i generator into the lestronic and run the Ray to get home without damaging any component?
Yes, you can plug a 48v Lestronic into the genset while motoring and likely deliver a continuous 17amps of current to your 48v battery bank. The genset will barely feel it… But the question you have seems to be as regards possible damage to the Ray system. That is best asked of Ray Electric.
However, assuming that their controller is rated for 48v nominal and designed to handle the typical charge/discharge range for lead-acid while at the dock, then surely, while underway and with the motor pulling most or all of the charge current, the voltage will be in the more moderate range, eliminating stress on the Ray. Assuming you are not talking about connecting the charger and disconnecting the batteries in this scenario, the controller should have no issue with this. I’ve run like this with both Alltrax and Curtis controllers, though in both cases, these are 24-48v controllers run with nom. 36v packs/chargers.

Second, their standard models are sized so their power ratings don’t exceed the typical 15amp limit at 120vAC. So while you’ll see 25-amp DC output at 36v and under, to deliver 25amp at 60v, they’d likely want to configure it for 208/240v AC input. You’d need a 220vAC output generator configuration for that.
Ø I am not familiar with the Lestronic charger. But if we make the following assumptions: 25 amp max to batteries at 60 volts is 1500 watts out. If the charger is at least 60% efficient then it will draw 2500 watts or less from the AC line. The Honda 3000 may handle this. The manual says 2.8 kva.
