Re: [Electric Boats] Hi ya

You have two choices "Range" or "Speed". Lets say you are out 20 miles, just slow down just a little and you will have plenty energy left. Lets say on a different day you are 1 mile out and the rain is almost upon you. Speed her right up and get home dry.

Just look at some of the charts It does nto really matter what motor company you use the math is always almost the same. Slow down to 1 or 2 knots and you can go for a very long ways. Push her to the limit and you get across a short piece of water at hull speed.

I just joined the forum a week or so ago, and have been lurking since then. I am plotting the removal of my Vetus 3.10 (its been plotting my removal for years!) from my 30 LOD pilot cutter (~7tons). I would LOVE to go sailing for a weekend and not smell like fuel after bleeding the fuel system for the umteenth time.

The sketch of the conversion plan is to build up a 48 volt system, capable of moving the boat a 6 knots in flat water, but planning on running at 4 most of the time. I have fantasies of a 15 mile range, and using a little Honda generator to extend the range.

Regards,
Ben
